And it caught fire!!!! I powered it up and it wouldn't POST. When I opened the lid to see what was up - smoke poured out! There was a small fire burning in the rear corner. | I pulled it all apart and discovered some rather severe damage to the motherboard.
It would appear that I hit a power run on an inner layer of the Audigy - DOH! So I crossed my fingers and repaired the fried runs using wirewrap wire (often referred to as "kynar" in the forums).
And got lucky when the mobo fired right up again and worked fine (whew). The Audigy was just replaced as I can never trust it again (I gave it to one of my techs and he says it works fine).
